Cipro (International name Ciprofloxacin) is a synthetic fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to kill bacteria by preventing its ability to reproduce.

Cipro antibiotic is widely used to treat urinary tract infections, cystitis in females, bacterial prostatitis, skin infections, bone and joint infections, infectious diarrhea and some kinds of fever. It may also be used to prevent or slow anthrax after exposure.
It was first synthesized and branded by Bayer A.G. in 1983 and then approved by FDA (Food and Drug Administration) in 1987. Cipro interacts with some other herbals, drugs and special medications.
